David P. Miles is the president of The H & R Block Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2002, David was a member of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. He assisted donors in accomplishing their charitable goals by making sure they received maximum financial benefit in charitable giving and aligning their values and the needs of the community. David also implemented strategies and provided leadership to increase the commitment and participation of alumni in financial support and volunteer involvement at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Missouri-Columbia, and Stephens College.

Jean-Paul Chaurand is the executive vice president of The H & R Block Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2016, Jean-Paul was the chief operating officer at the Guadalupe Centers and the senior vice president for community investment at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Jean-Paul serves on the boards of Children’s Mercy Hospital and AltCap.

Kris Wilcoxson is the vice president of finance and administration at The H & R Block Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation, Kris worked in public accounting focusing on income tax preparation, business process improvement, and administrative consulting for numerous clients throughout the Kansas City area. She has also been involved with accounting for private foundations for more than twenty years. Kris graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a BSBA in accounting, passed the CPA exam in 1999, and holds an active license to practice in Missouri.

Valerie Salazar is the grantmaking principal of The H & R Block Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2021, Valerie was the Director of Programs for KC Scholars where she managed a team focused on supporting students from the time of application through college completion and beyond. Valerie has worked in the nonprofit community in Kansas City for over 15 years. Prior to that, she served in the Peace Corps working alongside community leaders to enhance rural community development in northern Costa Rica.

Rachel Carlton is the associate grants director at The H & R Block Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2017, Rachel was a senior program officer at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where she managed grants to organizations that educate and support entrepreneurs across the United States. In 2011, Rachel returned to her hometown of Kansas City after having lived in San Francisco and New York City since the mid-1990’s, where she enjoyed a career as an executive assistant to CEO’s in a variety of industries, including hospitality, higher education, and city government.

Courtney Bouska is the executive office assistant of The H & R Block Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2021, Courtney worked in administration for the Missouri Symphony Society in Columbia, Missouri. Earlier in her career, she worked in the automotive industry as an e-commerce strategist and sales executive before focusing on social responsibility and community engagement for dealer groups. Courtney holds volunteer positions with the Lee’s Summit R-7 school district and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri.

Destiny Lindquist is the grants assistant at The H & R Block Foundation. Before joining the Foundation in 2020, Destiny was a billing and customer service associate at Baisch and Skinner, Inc., a wholesale florist located in North Kansas City. Prior to that, she was an assistant manager at the Cinemark Theaters on the Country Club Plaza, responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling associates. Destiny currently holds a volunteer position as an office assistant for After the Harvest.
